I have loved scrapbooking since I was in high school.
I love all my late night crops with my friends.
even better....weekend getaway crops!
Friday night I am invited to one of these wonderful 'girls nights'
...I'm super excited!
Great friends!
Good talks.
Lots of laughs!
but....
believe it or not...
I'm not really in the mood to scrapbook.
Sadly, I'm feeling the joy slowly slipping away.
I used to love 'escaping' from my week, submerging myself in cute paper and buttons.
Lately, it feels more overwhelming than refreshing.
I will NEVER get caught up :(
My girls are 4, 6, and 9.
In their albums they are 18 mo, 3 yrs, and 6 yrs.
I find myself leaning more towards....
crocheting.
crafting.
I'm really wanting to learn how to crochet.
...anyone want to teach me?!?
I'm wanting to make a cute banner to hang on our living room mirror.
...to which my husband says, "who's birthday is it?!?"
He's a turd!
The list maker in me wants to make something...
and finish it!
Cross it off my list.
I want to work on something for a couple hours
and have a finished product that I can enjoy.
Not an ongoing project that leaves me feeling like I'll never be able to come up for air.
Anyone else with me?
anyone have encouraging words to keep me motivated to stick with it?
check out this super cute afgan.
I want one just like it!
...made by me ;)
Thanks for the inspiration.
I may have to try my hand at this tomorrow night.
I am right there with you!
ReplyDeleteI "abandoned" scrapbooking a few years ago... our kids are 10, 7 and 7, but the 7 year olds scrapbooks are still in their infant years, and the 10 year olds is in his toddlers.
I feel HORRIBLE and like a failure when I think about the uncompleted books and pictures still waiting to be put in. I was very overwhelmed with being behind whenever I would work on them!
I have since started keeping up with pictures and journaling through our family blog, and have gotten that printed to serve as a "scrapbook"...and I like that process better!
By the way...did I mention I learned to knit last year and absolutely LOVE it! As you mentioned, I am able to complete projects in hours or days and I feel soo good about that!
I say cut yourself some slack, learn to crochet, and just start printing your blog and using that!
Some day we will eventually catch up on those earlier years of scrapping...but it may be when we are scrambling to get things around for a high school graduation open house!!!
I love scrapbooking! Or at least the idea of it. I agree...it is so overwhelming. I make baby albums for friends and scrapbooks for grandparents for Christmas....that is the only scrapbooking I have done in a couple years. I am actually dreading doing that this year for Christmas. It takes so much to get it all out and to FINISH. So here I have tons of paper and stuff taking up space and I can't bring myself to get rid of it...because what if I get some free time and want to spend it surrounded by the clutter of paper and scraps? :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your new hobby!
