Let me rewind a bit...Brooks' dad had to have emergency surgery on July 4th and is still recouping. His energy is just not back and he is the one who takes care of the yard and garden. And when I say garden, I mean monster garden. His dad loves to garden! Any gardening questions, I go straight to the 'ol dad-in-law. Between mom&dad-in-law, they taught me all I know about gardening and canning...except for the few times I need to call on my sis;) Anyway, the garden is big. There are only two of them but they have 8-10 tomato plants, 3 rows of green beans, a couple green peppers, cucumbers, and zucchini, and onions growing out the wazoo!
Ok, fast forward back to last weekend. The beans needed picking, the peach trees need sprayed, and the yard needed mowed. We decided to spend the afternoon out there helping get things caught up. Brooks went to start the mower and it wouldn't start ;(
He ended up driving into town to Gran's house (Brooks' gma) to get her rider. Brooks and Taylor drove it all the way out to his parents house to get the yard mowed. Brooks may have felt a little bit hillbilly but boy did Taylor love it!
Breck ended up needing a turn too, so she got to ride around the yard with daddy-o.
Kaicee, however thinks she is big stuff. There was a bit of riding with dad, but she got to drive the tractor, by herself, back to gran's house!
Of course, we followed along on our bikes but she thought it was the greatest thing, driving by herself.
We did have to laugh...she is such a lightweight, she had trouble stopping and being able to keep the mower running. The mower automatically shuts off when your bum comes up off the seat. Every time she had to use the break, her bottom would slide to the front of the seat...not keeping enough weight on the seat and shutting the mower off.
I totally feel for Kaicee!! I remember when dad let me mow the pasture and every time I hit a bump my bum left the seat and the blades would turn off!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Yep, she's built just like you;)
